Digital dentistry.
Send the case from whichever system your operatory runs. Fairmont is a preferred iTero laboratory and accepts files from every mainstream scanner, with conventional impressions as welcome as they have been since 1988.

A preferred iTero laboratory
Fairmont holds preferred laboratory designation from Align Technology for iTero. In practical terms that means the laboratory is established within the iTero system as a receiving destination, so a practice can select Fairmont at the end of a scan and the case is delivered directly.
For an iTero practice that removes file handling from every case: no exporting to a folder, no attaching files, no wondering whether the right file went. The case arrives complete, with the scan and the case setup travelling together, and design work can begin the same day.
If your practice runs iTero and has not yet added Fairmont as a receiving laboratory, it is a one-off setup — see connecting your scanner.
Every other platform is welcome too
3Shape TRIOS cases arrive through 3Shape Communicate, or as exported STL and DCM files where a practice would rather handle the file directly. Medit, Primescan and CEREC, and Carestream all have equivalent routes.
Any scanner capable of exporting open STL can be used, which in practice means all of them. If your system is not named here it is almost certainly still workable — call and we will confirm.

What digital changes, and what it does not
It removes an entire chain of error unrelated to clinical technique: material distortion on removal, tray flex, dimensional change during disinfection, delay before pouring, and setting expansion of the model material. It also removes the outbound courier journey from every case.
It removes nothing clinical. A scan still requires a margin that is visible, dry and clear of tissue at the moment of capture, still requires haemostasis, and still requires an accurate bite and a complete opposing arch.
Where a margin sits deeply subgingival and cannot be exposed optically, an impression under adequate retraction remains the better record. Send whichever you have taken well.
Conventional impressions have not gone anywhere
Deep subgingival margins, edentulous impressions and long spans where stitching error accumulates are all situations where conventional records still perform better.
Fairmont has been working from impressions since 1988 and continues to. Adopting digital does not mean abandoning the alternative, and choosing per case is more useful than choosing per practice.
